The largest ancient Greek town of Sicily and Magna Grecia

UNESCO site since 2002 Siracusa with Ortigia is one of the most interesting touristic towns of Sicily located in the South-East of the Island. Also known as the city of Archimedes, Siracusa is renowned for history, art, culture, nature, beaches and typical cuisine to enjoy complete holidays at 360°. The great history starts with the Greek colonization in 733 b.C. that gave birth to one of the largest cities of Greek and Roman ancient world. The interesting remains of the ancient town are still present in the Archeological Park of Neapolis, in the Regional Museum and in the ruins of Eurialo Castle. The Isle of Ortigia, the historical city center, is a real open museum with colorful and attractive narrow streets and alleys with buildings of different architectural style and historical periods rebuilt after the terrific earthquake of 1693 that destroyed almost entirely Siracusa and most of the South-East of Sicily. Typical shops, restaurants, taverns, wine bars, music bars, street food, traditional pastry shops make you enjoy the visit. Outdoor activities with excursions to the beaches of Vendicari natural reserve, the valley of Cava Grande and Pantalica will allow you to appreciate the beauty of the surrounding nature. Sea lovers will enjoy the cliffs and the beaches along the coast with boat trips, snorkeling and diving activities for intense but relaxing stays.
